Baja Field Trip June 2001

Underwater

The ponds that we work in are about a meter deep. These photos show some of the equipment that we use to sample mats (such as the syringe corer) and water within chambers. By enclosing a volume of water over a mat with a chamber, we can measure the exchange of such things as oxygen, dissolved inorganic carbon, and nutrients between the mat and the water.
