In Situ Diel
| We make measurements of various biogeochemical processes at the field site (in situ). This means that we take all of our equipment out onto the dike between the ponds and live and work out of vans for a 24 hour (diel) period. Samples are taken from either the mat, or the water, at regular intervals. The samples are coming both from the pond, and from chambers that are deployed over the mat to enclose a volume of water. We also have a rubber boat that holds the computer and the car batteries that run the microelectrode lander. The photos below give a bit of the flavor of working out on the dike. |
